Admission Process

Open Houses for prospective students are held twice a year; however, you are welcome to schedule a visit at any time.

Charleston Collegiate uses the Education Records Bureau CTP IV (Comprehensive Testing Program) ability/achievement test to evaluate applicants based on nationwide standards used by highly selective college preparatory schools.

Admission decisions are based on the academic and personal strengths of each candidate. Your transcript and standardized test scores give us an indication of your academic abilities. Recommendations from your teachers tell us more about the kind of person and student you are, about your motivation, your interests, and your abilities to interact with others. Your essay is your chance to tell the admission committee the things you wish them to know, and will not only give us an indication of your writing ability, it will give us a sense of your interests, goals, and dreams.

Charleston Collegiate School admits students of any race, color, sex, disability, nationality, or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students in the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, disability, nationality, or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic, and other school-administered programs.

Procedure

1. Application: The admission application consists of two parts: Part I is to be completed by the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the applicant; Part II is for the applicant to complete. You may download or print the PDF version of the application directly from our website by clicking here. After the printed form has been filled out completely, please return it to the Admission Office. An online version of our admission application form will soon be available.

2. Admission Testing: After an application is received, a date for testing will be arranged, at which time we will schedule placement testing and secondary interviews.

3. Transcripts and school records: Parents should complete and sign the school records release form which authorizes their child’s current school to send all necessary records. Upon receipt of the application, transcripts and school records will be requested from the present school.

4. Recommendations: Current math and English recommendations, as well as an extracurricular or school recommendation, are now available on our website by clicking here. These must be printed out and submitted to the Admission Office by mail.
