Areas of Giving
Charleston Collegiate Annual Fund Proceeds from the Charleston Collegiate Annual Fund are applied to the yearly operating budget that covers such expenses as faculty salaries, financial aid, physical plant, equipment, and classroom supplies. Click here to learn more about the Annual Fund. Endowment A strong endowment will enable Charleston Collegiate to establish a firm financial foundation and to balance the financial needs of a growing academic institution. As we build a substantial endowment, these funds will be invested in the market, and a small portion of each year's return (on these invested funds) will be drawn down to help with operating expenses. Building a substantial endowment is tremendously important to ensuring the long term health of the organization. As of today, Charleston Collegiate's endowment is 571 times what it was just three years ago — thanks to a most generous $100,000 challenge put up by Mr. Hardwick Caldwell in 2008, which the CCS community matched within one year. As displayed in the community's response to Mr. Caldwell's challenge, we are able to achieve great things when given a little push. Please contact Hacker Burr in the Development Office [E-mail] with any questions or requests regarding endowment giving. Capital Gifts As Charleston Collegiate attracts more students and expands its academic, athletic, and fine arts programs, there is tremendous need for capital improvement. The school will need additional classroom and meeting/production space. In addition, routine maintenance include expensive projects such as a new roof for the Upper School building, repaving the road, new lights for the football field, and the upgrading of classrooms, offices, and the cafeteria. Collegiate Scholars Program The Collegiate Scholars Program provides deserving students with the opportunity to attend a college preparatory school and exposes them to experiences that will enhance their lives. Click here for more information about the Collegiate Scholars program, or please contact Hacker Burr [E-mail]. Gifts-in-Kind Gifts-in-Kind are gifts of goods or services rather than money, for example, computers, furniture, or playground equipment. Receipts for gifts-in-kind are issued with the value of the gift based on the current market price for the goods or services donated. Library Birthday Books In 2008, Charleston Collegiate revived the Library Birthday Books Program that enables the school to expand our library and honor children at the same time. Parents may contribute $25 to Charleston Collegiate to honor a student with a book on his/her birthday. A book plate with the student’s name, birthday, and the name of the donor(s) is placed in an age-appropriate book. Each month at the all-school assembly, students receive their books and then the books become part of our library. The program is a marvelous opportunity to inspire reading and to enhance the library. Please contact the CCS Library for more information.
