Parents' Association
Welcome back to Charleston Collegiate!
The 2009-2010 school year is about to being and we have already been busy gearing up for the new year. Your contribution and fundraising efforts last year through the Charleston Collegiate School Parents' Association provided many enhancements to our children's school.
A large portion of the money we raised was gifted to the school to meet the dollars needed to match a gift of $100,000.00 for the CCS endowment fund.
The Parents' Association purchased flat screen, wall mounted televisions, one in the lower school building an one in the upper school hallway, that will serve as information boards for all grades and sporting activities as well as schedules. The Parents' Association sponsored an upper school student, enabling them to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program at the Citadel this summer. The P.A. also contributed to the fine arts program, the annual fund, annual auction, Education Day with the Charleston Riverdogs, and to our yearbook. The Regional Spelling Bee, Teacher Appreciation luncheon/week and both middle school dances were also funded by the P.A.
When you come back to school, you'll see the new ropes course and outdoor classroom. The Association funded the survey and finalization of development for this great addition to our school. Many other small but needed items have been provided because of the efforts of fundraising and contributions. Your participation and hard work have made this possible.
The Parents' Association is a great outlet for you as a parent to get involved with your child's education and provide an exciting atmosphere for your children. As you familiarize yourself with the activities and events, we are asking each parent to PLEASE CONSIDER AT LEAST 20 VOLUNTEER HOURS per semester. YOU are greatly needed to promote the extra activities and events that not only develop and enhance our programs but also bring us together as a community and family.
Your excitement and eagerness to be a part of the Parents' Association is greatly appreciated and needed. It's going to be a great year!
