Internship Program
Charleston Collegiate School’s internship is where project-based learning, entrepreneurship, and many of our core philosophies meet. The program offers juniors and seniors a powerful opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom. One full day each week, students step into a professional environment, working alongside a mentor in a field aligned with their interests and aspirations.
Students take the lead in identifying potential career paths and securing placements, building networking and professional communication skills in the process. Through sustained, hands-on experience, they gain authentic insight into the day-to-day realities of their chosen field while developing workplace competencies such as collaboration, initiative, time management, and problem-solving.
More than job shadowing, the internship program immerses students in meaningful professional engagement. By the end of the experience, students leave with greater clarity about their goals, a deeper understanding of the preparation required for success, and the confidence to pursue their next steps with purpose.

Simona, Class of 2026 (and heading to Johns Hopkins!)
“During my junior year internship, I had the opportunity to work at the Cardiology Transitional Research Laboratory at the Medical University of South Carolina. In this lab, we focused on a specific aspect of heart failure and explored ways to alleviate it. My responsibilities included operating lab equipment and contributing to the research by performing RNA extraction, RNA/cDNA conversion, and data analysis. Additionally, I collaborated on a research project that confirmed fibrosis as a key factor in heart failure. Thanks to my mentors, I have learned and achieved more than I ever imagined.”
