Technology
The use of technology at Charleston Collegiate School is intentional and mission-driven. Rooted in our Four Pillars of Education, digital tools deepen learning, foster creativity, and strengthen problem-solving.
In lower school, technology is introduced thoughtfully, with class sets of Chromebooks used to enhance exploration, research, and creative expression.
In fifth grade, students begin formal study in programming, robotics, and HTML, developing computational thinking and digital fluency.
Middle and upper school students participate in a 1:1 Chromebook program, allowing them to organize assignments, conduct research, collaborate on projects, create multimedia presentations, access e-books and digital resources, and engage in “flipped classroom” experiences. Within the upper school STEM curriculum, students advance into software design, multimedia production, and complex problem-solving using a variety of programming languages and digital platforms.
– Increasing student engagement through interactive, inquiry-based experiences
– Deepening understanding through research, multimedia creation, and collaboration
– Encouraging responsible and ethical digital citizenship
– Preparing students with the technical fluency required in college and their future careers
– Across all divisions, technology serves as a tool for innovation, empowering students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and navigate an increasingly connected world with confidence and integrity.

A Balanced & Purposeful Life
At CCS, we believe that thoughtful boundaries are essential to meaningful learning. Personal cell phone use is not supported during the school day in Middle School, and Upper School students secure their phones upon arrival each morning. By creating distraction-free environments, we prioritize focus, face-to-face connection, and intentional engagement with academic technology.
