Student Support
At Charleston Collegiate School, we believe students thrive when they feel known, supported, and understood. Academic growth, emotional wellbeing, and physical health are deeply connected, and our Student Support program is designed to nurture all three. From Lower School through Upper School, we provide intentional, age-appropriate support that helps students build confidence, resilience, and the skills they need to succeed both in school and in life.
Our approach emphasizes the development of executive functioning skills and the resilience necessary to meet grade-level expectations. We work closely with each student to address individual learning needs, ensuring every learner can thrive in the classroom.
Charleston Collegiate utilizes both push-in and pull-out support models. Our highly skilled interventionists collaborate with classroom teachers to align support with core instruction and thoughtfully integrate it into each student’s learning experience.
Student progress is reviewed individually, and when appropriate, accommodation plans are developed and implemented. These plans are designed to maintain high expectations while fostering independence, helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Student support at CCS is not confined to one office or department. It is part of our culture.
At CCS, we recognize that each student brings unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles to the classroom.
– Dedicated Lower School Learning Support Specialist
Our lower school specialist works closely with students, teachers, and families to provide targeted support during foundational years.
– Dedicated Middle School Learning Support Specialist
As academic expectations increase, our middle school specialist partners with students to strengthen executive functioning, organization, study skills, and subject-specific understanding.
Through collaboration with classroom teachers and ongoing communication with families, our learning support team ensures that students receive thoughtful, individualized support within the context of our college-preparatory curriculum.
A student’s emotional health is just as important as academic achievement. CCS provides structured and responsive support to help students navigate their mental and emotional health.
– Dedicated School Counselor (Lower & Middle School)
Our counselor works proactively and responsively with students to support social-emotional development.
– Dedicated School Counselor (Upper School)
In upper school, students face increasing academic demands and important life decisions. CCS provides dedicated support tailored to helping students manage stress, strengthen coping skills, and maintain balance during their formative years.
CCS has a dedicated school nurse serving lower, middle, and upper school students. From everyday needs to unexpected illnesses or injuries, our nurse provides attentive, professional care during the school day.
The school nurse partners with families to support student health plans and provide peace of mind to parents and a safe environment for students.

The Student Experience
Our students explore their passions, lead initiatives, and grow in a community that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and connection to the world around them.
