Letter From the Head of School
Welcome to Charleston Collegiate School.
At CCS, we believe great schools create learning experiences that are rigorous, real-world, relationship-based, and responsive. These four ideas guide how we think about teaching, learning, and community.
Rigor at CCS blends curiosity, challenge, and meaningful engagement with ideas that matter. Real-world learning allows students to apply and deepen what they know through projects, internships, travel, and authentic problem solving. Relationship-based learning ensures our students are supported by teachers and mentors who know them well and care deeply about their growth. And responsive learning lets us meet students where they are and help their ambitions find opportunities to grow.
Our mission is to empower students through an approach that values collaboration, innovation, and individuality so they can become resilient leaders prepared for the opportunities of the 21st century. Our culture is grounded in advocacy, empathy, integrity, optimism, and a deep sense of community. At CCS, learning begins with connection.
Visiting campus, you’ll see our mission and culture come to life through the pillars of a CCS education: experiential learning, arts and creativity, entrepreneurship, and outdoor education. Together, these experiences connect classroom learning to the wider world.
We hope you will visit campus and experience firsthand the curiosity, challenge, and care that define Charleston Collegiate School. I look forward to welcoming you to our campus home and caring community.
For CCS,
Andy Gyves
Head of School
