CCS Boys Varsity Golf Team Honored at South Carolina State House

Charleston Collegiate Boys Varsity Golf Celebrates SCISA state champion win at the state house

Charleston Collegiate School’s Boys Varsity Golf Team traveled to the South Carolina State House on Tuesday, May 12. The team received recognition for winning the 2026 SCISA Class AA State Championship.

The Sun Devils earned the state title after a dominant performance at the SCISA Class AA State Championship on April 28. Charleston Collegiate competed at Hackler Golf Club and finished with a team score of 636.

Most notably, the Sun Devils finished 20 strokes ahead of the competition. As a result, the team capped a strong season with a decisive state championship victory.

A Strong Season on the Course

At the tournament, seventh grader Harvey Pollock led the Sun Devils. He earned SCISA AA All-Region honors and shared Co-Medalist honors as the tournament’s top individual finisher.

Meanwhile, eighth graders Palmer Little and Graves Boyd also earned SCISA AA All-Region honors. In addition, seniors Grant Morrison and Wilson Scapellato contributed key rounds throughout the tournament. Their performances helped CCS maintain its lead and secure the state championship.

Throughout the season, the team showed consistency, composure, and a strong competitive spirit. Those qualities ultimately helped the Sun Devils rise to the top of the SCISA Class AA field.

“This group set the standard from start to finish,” said Head Golf Coach Pete Tufts. “Their consistency, composure, and competitiveness all season long made this outcome possible, and I couldn’t be more proud of how they represented CCS.”

Celebrating at the State House

Following their championship victory, the team traveled to Columbia to celebrate the achievement at the State House. The visit gave the student-athletes an opportunity to represent Charleston Collegiate and celebrate their hard work.

Additionally, the State House recognition provided a memorable way for the team to mark an outstanding season together.

“This is a meaningful achievement for our student-athletes,” said Jim Duggan, Head of Athletics. “They’ve put in the work, and it showed in how they competed at the state level.”

The state championship adds another accomplishment to a growing list of athletic achievements at Charleston Collegiate. More importantly, it reflects the dedication and teamwork that the Sun Devils bring to the course each season.
