More Than a Sunrise: CCS Seniors Kick Off Their Final Year at Folly Beach
There’s something special about watching the sunrise with your friends, especially when it’s the start of your senior year!
On September 9, Charleston Collegiate’s Class of 2027 gathered at Folly Beach for Senior Sunrise, kicking off their final year of high school with an early morning by the ocean. Between the sunrise, surfers catching waves, and a few seagulls along the shore, it was a pretty great way to start the day.
Making Memories Along the Way
For Josie, who joined CCS in ninth grade, the best part was “watching the day come alive.” She loved taking in the morning views, from the rising sun to the surfers and seagulls. She also had a hand in making the morning special, reaching out to her crafty classmate Lyden (Grade 10) to see if she could create a sign for the occasion. Josie hopes Senior Sunrise becomes a tradition that future senior classes can enjoy, too.
There’s plenty she’s looking forward to this year, too, including the college application process and hopefully landing a spot at her dream school, the University of South Carolina.

Ethan, who joined CCS as a sophomore, has a lot to look forward to as well. When asked what being a senior means to him, he reflected on his time at CCS:
“These three years have been some of the best years of my life.”
Now, he’s excited to be on the other side of the experience, serving as a role model for younger students and giving new Sun Devils the same warm welcome he received when he first arrived. His one-word description of Senior Sunrise? “Majestic.”
Ethan is also looking ahead to college applications, with Clemson University on his list.

Looking Ahead to Senior Year
It’s hard to believe the Class of 2027 is already in its final year! We’re excited to see all that this group will accomplish, the memories they’ll make, and the ways they’ll leave their mark on CCS before graduation. Here’s to a great year, seniors!
Imagine your child making memories like these. Come see CCS in action!
